This Cookie Policy explains how My Book Pad uses cookies and similar technologies. We try to use as few as possible, and we don't use any for advertising, analytics, or cross-site tracking.

1. What's a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser. It lets the site recognize your browser on later visits — for example, to keep you signed in or remember a preference. Cookies set by the site you're visiting are called first-party cookies; cookies set by other domains loaded on the page are called third-party cookies. We use only first-party cookies.

2. The cookies we set

Strictly necessary

These cookies are required for the Service to function. You can't opt out of them and still use the app, because they're what keep you signed in.

Session cookie (PHPSESSID or equivalent) — identifies your signed-in session. Expires when you close your browser or sign out.
CSRF token — a per-request token used to protect forms against cross-site request forgery. Lives in the session, not a separate cookie.

Functional

Theme preference — if you switch the app to dark mode, we remember the choice in localStorage on your device (not a cookie that gets sent to our server).
"Remember me" token (if you opt in at sign-in) — keeps you signed in across browser restarts. You can clear it by signing out.

3. Cookies we do not use

No advertising or marketing cookies.
No third-party analytics (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.).
No session-replay or heatmap tools.
No social-media tracking pixels.

4. Cookies set by our payment processor

When you visit the Stripe-hosted checkout or customer portal, Stripe may set its own cookies to handle the payment flow and detect fraud. Those cookies live on Stripe's domain, not ours — see stripe.com/cookie-settings for their details.

5. How to control cookies

All modern browsers let you view, accept, block, or delete cookies through the settings menu. Be aware that if you block our session cookie, you won't be able to sign in. Major browser guides:

If we change what cookies the Service uses, we'll update this page and revise the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will be communicated by email or an in-product notice.
