This Cookie Policy explains how My Book Pad uses cookies and similar technologies. We try to use as few as possible, and we don't use any for advertising, analytics, or cross-site tracking.
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser. It lets the site recognize your browser on later visits — for example, to keep you signed in or remember a preference. Cookies set by the site you're visiting are called first-party cookies; cookies set by other domains loaded on the page are called third-party cookies. We use only first-party cookies.
These cookies are required for the Service to function. You can't opt out of them and still use the app, because they're what keep you signed in.
PHPSESSID or equivalent) —
identifies your signed-in session. Expires when you close your browser or
sign out.mbp_share) — when a
project owner shares a read-only project view with you, this cookie identifies
your client-share session so the correct project loads. Expires when the
session ends or you leave the shared view.mbp_share_org) — a
companion cookie set at the same time that records which workspace your shared
link belongs to, so pages and files resolve to the right account. Set and
cleared together with the client-share session cookie.theme) — if you switch to
dark mode, we store that choice in a first-party theme cookie so
every page can load in your chosen theme right away. It only ever contains the
word "light" or "dark" — no personal information. (On the read-only
client-share portal the same preference is kept in localStorage
instead of a cookie.)The cookies we set are either strictly necessary to run the Service (signing you in, securing forms, loading a shared project) or a simple appearance preference (light/dark theme). We set no advertising, analytics, profiling, or cross-site tracking cookies. Under Canadian privacy law (including Quebec's Law 25) and the EU/UK ePrivacy rules, strictly-necessary and basic functional cookies of this kind don't require a prior-consent banner. You stay in full control through your browser settings (below), and switching back to the default theme or signing out clears the optional ones. If we ever introduce analytics or marketing cookies, we'll add a proper consent mechanism first.
When you visit the Stripe-hosted checkout or customer portal, Stripe may set its own cookies to handle the payment flow and detect fraud. Those cookies live on Stripe's domain, not ours — see stripe.com/cookie-settings for their details.
Our iOS and Android apps don't use browser cookies. They keep your sign-in securely on your device and follow the same no-tracking commitment described above.
All modern browsers let you view, accept, block, or delete cookies through the settings menu. Be aware that if you block our session cookie, you won't be able to sign in. Major browser guides:
If we change what cookies the Service uses, we'll update this page and revise the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will be communicated by email or an in-product notice.
